Botox Treatment for Hyperhidrosis

Kevin C. Smith MD FACP FRCPC

BOTOX® can be used to reduce sweating on any part of the body, making it an effective solution for treating focal hyperhidrosis. Common areas for treatment include the underarms, palms, and the soles of the feet. Sweating is reduced within a few days, and can last from 6 to 12 months following treatment. It is noteworthy that BOTOX® treatments for medical conditions like hyperhidrosis or migraines are generally covered by most drug plans, and any portion left without coverage can be deducted from taxes as a medical expense. You can learn more about Botox at botoxfacts.ca.

Note that, as with any medical procedure, proper consultation with your physician, and understanding of the procedure, expectations, and risks are vitally important.
